America's favorite smarmy Ayn Rand fanboy, Paul Ryan, is likely the next Speaker of the House, but before he takes on the position he has a short list of demands to his fellow Congressional Republicans: A) He wants to be guaranteed he'll win the vote and B) He wants to not undermine his “family time”, something he allegedly holds dear. The irony of the latter demand wasn't lost on many liberal commentators, especially Larry Wilmore who couldn't help but note the glaring hypocrisy on display.
“Paul Ryan is completely full of shit,” Wilmore said before playing a news clip explaining that Ryan voted against paid family leave for federal workers in 2009. Put simply: the Wisconsin Congressman supports “family time” for those who are rich and more work time for those who aren't. But, according to Wilmore, even his nominal reason for family time doesn't add up: Ryan clearly spends more time at the gym than playing catch with the kiddos.
“The Speaker of the House doesn't need to shred his delts and burn his glutes,” Wilmore insisted. “You're a dad. Be like the rest of America and be content with your dad bod.”
